On broken things, the magpie's blue and the cultivation of astonishment
Laura, I love this idea! I am committing to the Odes of March! It inspired me so much, I finally started my own Substack and included my March 1st ode in my first post: https://open.substack.com/pub/rosalynwrites/p/welcome-to-rosalyn-writes?r=7n4r2&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
Miigwech for the shout-out, comrade! I never thought of the sentences as odes before but you are so right. So delightful to see them in this light!
Didn’t think I would do this, but loved the idea, then got a call…
Odes of March 1
Sisters, brother aging
resisting, worrying and adjusting, accepting
And today we’re dancing
because it’s just a cyst.
(Written following a call from my sister after her mammogram to diagnose the lump she found in her breast)
